Main portal
Welcome to @Pel.Net.
Update: 17/07/2017
To ensure smooth operation in the summer months, a number of things have been improved
which have been waiting for a long time. Firstly, due to the unreliability of the AC
supplier and/or transformer station providing power, precautionary measures have been
taken. This includes the purchase and revival of a 2-stroke, petrol driven 3.5kVA
generator capable of supplying power to both the core infrastructure and the air
conditioning. The generator is not operational for automatic failover yet.
In case of minor outages and/or to rectify brown-outs, two APC 1500VA units have been
installed, providing ample time to start the generator or initiate a controlled
shutdown sequence of the environment. A further UPS has been installed providing power
to the fiber bridge, ensuring the primary uplink remains operational.
To increase backup/restore performance and expand the capacity of the current offline
backup plans, all tape backups are now on LTO (3) which provides a more future proof
solution for the time being.
Finally, a Dell RPS-600 power supply has been installed, providing the core switching
fabric redundant power in case of both a power failure in the environment or a UPS fault.
Update: 26/02/2017
After some trouble with the core switching fabric earlier this month, half of the switches
have been replaced. All switches now share the same hardware and firmware revisions and
are configured to prevent such issues from occurring again.
In addition, a fiber ring has been configured between each switch, ensuring connectivity of
remaining network segments in case of a single unit failure. This new configuration has
now been running for more than a week with no indication of any problems. The backup links
have been tested and become active accordingly within a few seconds. The previous switches
are still on-site and can be used as a replacement/backup unit for other network segments in
case of a failure.
Update: 29/01/2017
Due to an opportunity of acquiring an identical pair of Dell R310 servers, the main
firewall cluster has now been upgraded. This not only provides easier management as
both nodes share the same chassis, CPU, RAM and NIC configuration, but also removes
the requirement for a preferred node.
Both servers feature an integrated Dell iDRAC6 controller with enterprise options
enabled and are fully monitored. Furthermore, the Intel Xeon X3450 CPUs are fast enough
to enable proper usage of conntrackd, which can ensure a stateful failover when node
roles are switched. The IP KVM is also no longer connected to the nodes as they each
have full lights-out management via the iDRAC.
Update: 26/09/2015
Welcome to the new and improved version of the @Pel.Net portal.
Once again, the main portal has undergone a number of technical and optical changes.
Although the design has not changed, many services have been consolidated in order to
provide a simpler framework of applications and more logical navigation. Some services,
namely those relying on ASP.NET, have been ported to PHP or consolidated with their PHP
counterparts.
Within due time, the 'pelnet.no-ip.org' domain and its respective applications and
functionality will be relocated to this combined portal, thus again providing more
consistent navigation. A sitemap is not implemented yet, but is on the agenda for Q1
2016.
Because of these relatively major changes, we welcome your feedback more than ever and
look forward to hearing or reading from you!
Update: 12/27/2011
Welcome to the new and improved version of the @Pel.Net portal.
After several years of occasionally updating the previous version of the site and
modifying existing content, we have now moved to the current design, which will
hopefully prove more user friendly and above all provide a previously missing positive,
intuitive "Look'n'Feel".
In a few months time, the previous version of the portal will be removed (archived)
entirely, but may be made available internally for reference.
Due to unforseen legislative circumstances and updates no more potentially copyrighted
material will be made available by means of this portal. According to current planning
estimates this will take effect as of 01/06/2012.
Please note that the non-related services will be kept online and privileged users will
retain the possibility to access the internal storage by means of secure Virtual Private
Networking. Contact the administrator for more information.
Should you find a dead link or other inconsistencies, contact the admin via the webmail
link on the left or
leave a message

Also, we would appreciate it if you were to leave your opinion of the services by
